Tick-Born Diseases in canines and felines is a set of diseases caused by pathogens vectorized by ticks. The symptoms of these diseases are mainly high fever, depression, anorexia and sometimes vomiting.
These infectious diseases are caused either by parasites such as Babesia canis canis, Babesia canis vogeli, Babesia gibsoni; or by bacteria such as Borrelia spp., Ehrlichia canis, Anaplasma platys, Anaplasma phagocytophilum.
The Epona tests for the isolated fever are next generation of molecular tests, allowing the detection of a genomic fragment of Theileria equi, Babesia caballi, Anaplasma phagocytophilum and/or Borrelia spp. in a reliable and rapid manner in order to obtain indications as to the pathogen(s) that are involved in the appearance of the observed symptoms.
Unlike traditional PCR tests, Epona tests require few preparation steps, on a portable and easy-to-use reading instrument. The result can be obtained in less than 40 minutes.
