Equine respiratory diseases, also known as acute respiratory syndrome, may cause a complex and non-specific set of clinical signs such as pyrexia, serous nasal discharge or inflammation of the upper respiratory tract. Viruses such as equine herpesviruses 1, 2, 4 & 5 or equine influenza virus, or bacteria such as Streptococcus equi subspecies equi (strangles) or Streptococcus equi subspecies zooepidemicus, may give rise to these clinical signs. Epona EHV-4 ENP tests are next-generation molecular tests that detect and differentiate fragments of the herpesvirus 4 genome in a reliable and rapid way, in order to provide indications as to whether the pathogens implicated in the observed clinical signs are present. Unlike conventional PCR reactions, the Epona tests are carried out in just a few steps on a portable, easy-to-use reading system. Results can therefore be obtained in under 40 minutes directly in your clinic.
Tests are intended for in vitro diagnostic use by veterinarians in accordance with the user guides, manuals and technical specifications.
